Se trata de una especia que puede utilizarse para todo: fritos, carnes, pasta, pizza, lo que quieras. Y lo m\u00e1s importante de todo. Parece ser que desde los primeros tiempos hist\u00f3ricos se ha utilizado para cuidar la salud, protegerse contra las plagas y los insectos y servir de antis\u00e9ptico para evitar infecciones. La alicina, un compuesto que contiene azufre y aparece en el ajo fresco machacado (se encuentra en su parte central), posee propiedades antibacterianas y antif\u00fangicas; tambi\u00e9n se dice que puede ayudar a resolver o atenuar los problemas card\u00edacos y de c\u00e1ncer. En cualquier caso, sus beneficios para las personas son muchos. Vale la pena tenerlo siempre en la cocina y consumirlo. Y \u00bfqu\u00e9 es el ajo? Una planta que forma parte de la familia de las cebollas; su bulbo (\u00f3rgano vegetal de brote redondeado) suele consistir de 10 a 20 piezas m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as llamadas dientes. Recordad que consumirlo crudo siempre produce mejores efectos que cocido o frito.<\/li>\n<li>Prevenci\u00f3n de enfermedades card\u00edacas: Consumir ajo a diario ayuda a reducir los niveles de colesterol gracias a las propiedades antioxidantes de la alicina. Tambi\u00e9n es \u00fatil para regular los niveles de presi\u00f3n arterial y de az\u00facar sangu\u00edneo. Recordad que este compuesto, que incluye azufre, suele perder sus propiedades beneficiosas cuando se consume cocido.<\/li>\n<li>Antibacteriano y antiparasitario: Durante m\u00e1s de siete mil a\u00f1os el ajo ha sido utilizado en muchos pa\u00edses para tratar las infecciones bacterianas, parasitarias y producidas por los hongos. Lavarse la boca utilizando un preparado que contenga ajo puede aliviar los problemas de caries y gingivitis, manteniendo los dientes, la lengua y las enc\u00edas en buena condici\u00f3n.<\/li>\n<li>Prevenci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer: Varios estudios indican una asociaci\u00f3n entre consumo habitual de ajo y prevenci\u00f3n de los tipos de c\u00e1ncer de est\u00f3mago y de colon y recto. Parece ser que favorece al sistema inmunitario en su lucha contra el c\u00e1ncer.<\/li>\n<li>Para la piel y el cabello: Parece ser que el ajo protege a la piel contra los efectos de los radicales libres y el agotamiento del col\u00e1geno. Si se aplica t\u00f3picamente mejora la piel infectada por hongos y alivia el eczema.
